BODY SCRUBS - What you need to know!

Posted by Maureen Secatore on

We all love a good scrub and let’s face it they are just as necessary as sunscreen! For well maintained, glowing and hydrated skin all year round, here’s a few handy hints that you can’t afford to miss out on!

JUST ADD WATER

Always ensure that you are applying your Body and/or Face Scrub to moistened or damp skin. It’s less abrasive on your skin and allows you to gently rub your scrub into circular motions more freely, ensuring you are achieving maximum skin scrubbing benefits.

HOW OFTEN

We recommend that you exfoliate only two to three times a week. Excess scrubbing can lead to drying out your skin.

BE GENTLE

When exfoliating it’s important to be gentle. A sure way to tell if you've gone too far is a change in the appearance or texture of your skin. If your skin seems drier than usual, or red and bruised, then its time to lighten up a little!

THE ROUND TABLE; SUGAR V’S SALT

Salt Scrubs are best used on oily skin types, while Sugar Scrubs are more suited for those with normal to dry skin. Sugar Scrubs can be more gentle on the skin, so it's better to go sweet over savoury for anyone that tends to be a bit sensitive.

LOCK IT IN

Straight after exfoliating your Face and/or Body you will need to apply a good moisturiser. Moisturisers are formulated to hydrate and protect your skin, this will help re-balance your skins moisture levels and leave it feeling hydrated, smooth and supple.

GOOD PREPARATION

Waxing & Shaving; It’s important to exfoliate your skin the day before waxing and/ or shaving as this helps to lift any hairs that could be trapped under dry / dead skin. Maintain, by exfoliating 2 days after waxing and/or shaving to help keep those ingrown hairs at bay. Tanning; Okay so we’ve all learnt the hard way when it comes to Self Tanning and now we ALL know that preparing your skin before Self Tanning is a MUST! It’s the key to a long lasting, believably bronzed glow! For best results, exfoliate & moiturise your skin the day before you apply your Self Tan. Some scrubs and creams can act as a barrier, so allowing this time will create better results and a longer lasting tan. It also allows for pores and skin to settle and re-balance, avoiding tanning solutions seeping into pores and leaving skin looking spotty!
